Oakland Interfaith Kids Choir
OIKC introduces elementary and gospel music concepts to children ages 5 to 10 through rhythm games, singing, and movement.
OIKC rehearses concurrently with the Community Choir, once a month on the 3rd Saturday of the month, from August to Nov and Jan to May. Kids do warm-ups with their grown-ups for the first half-hour, then learn music together in a nearby space before a performance in front of the Community Choir at the end of each session.
Choir tuition is $125 each semester. Monthly payment plans are available, and no one is turned away due to lack of funds! In August 2022, OIKC had its initial rehearsal and performed after only four rehearsals at the Yuletide Youth Concert.
MEMBERS’ PORTALSCHEDULE:
3rd Saturdays, 3-5pm Aug-Nov + Jan-May
3:00pm - Arrive, Warm-ups with big choir
3:30pm - Kids join Ms. La Nell to learn new songs and practice music skills
4:00pm - Snack break! Then more singing.
4:40pm - Rejoin big choir, perform!
