Youth Program
OIGC’s Youth Program builds community, confidence, and creativity in young people through music and beyond. Our comprehensive program nurtures every aspect of a young person’s journey: artistic, educational, spiritual, and social.
Choral Program
Our after-school ensembles teach youth to sing while performing across the Bay Area. Students gain confidence, musicianship, and stage experience through individual, and shared performances.
In the Schools
We bring music directly into classrooms through residencies and workshops. We are currently teaching full year choir classes in six area Middle Schools. Students explore rhythm, harmony, and cultural history while discovering the joy of singing.
Scholarships
Graduating HS seniors can apply for a scholarship to support college or vocational studies. Staff and mentors provide guidance, letters of recommendation, and ongoing support to help youth reach their educational goals.
Community
Students perform around the community, lifting spirits and inspiring audiences at cultural events and civic celebrations. We foster a safe, inclusive environment where youth of all faiths and backgrounds feel welcome. Families are engaged through performances, volunteer opportunities, and gatherings that strengthen the sense of belonging.
Personal Growth
Graduates are invited to stay connected through performances, volunteer roles, and mentorship. Many transition into the Adult Choir, maintaining lifelong engagement with our choir community.
Mentorships
Youth benefit from one-on-one guidance from directors, adult choir members, and alumni. Older students have opportunities to lead rehearsals, mentor peers, and gain leadership experience within the program.
